CROWN ISLE RESORT AND GOLF COMMUNITY TO ADD A REGIONAL HOSPITAL - Feb 4, 2011

Crown Isle Resort and Golf Community says the addition of a new regional hospital there fulfills a long-time vision. Last week the Vancouver Island Health Authority announced that the site for the new Comox Valley hospital will be on Crown Isle lands north of Ryan Road.

"With this announcement, this truly moves Crown Isle forward as one of Western Canada's premiere communities," said Ron Coulson, one of the development's two owners. "Many developments show great vision and promise; ours has now become a reality."

Coulson said the new hospital, combined with Costco and additional commercial developments, plus new residential subdivisions, could bring over $750 million in new construction within Crown Isle over the next few years.

"The economic spin-off will greatly benefit the entire Comox Valley by providing an opportunity for businesses and for people to live, shop, ski, fish, fly and play golf - all within a few minutes from their homes."

Crown Isle's Director of Real Estate, Jason Andrews, said the new hospital would bring "tremendous awareness to Crown Isle and the rest of the Comox Valley."
Andrews said having the new hospital within Crown Isle further enhances the overall vision of the resort's Master Planned Community, where you have all of the amenities in your own backyard: shopping, recreation, dining and health care all within walking distance of your home. "We believe we have created one of Western Canada's most complete and dynamic communities."

CROWN ISLE GETS CERTIFIED BY AUDUBON - Jan 27, 2011

Crown Isle Resort golf course in Courtenay on Vancouver Island has been designated as a "Certified Audubon Cooperative Sanctuary" through the Audubon Cooperative Sanctuary Program for Golf Courses, an Audubon International program.

Crown Isle Resort and Residential Community is the 9th golf course in British Columbia and the 813th in the world to receive the honour.

"Crown Isle Resort and Community has shown a strong commitment to its environmental program. They are to be commended for their efforts to provide a sanctuary for wildlife on the golf course property," said Jim Sluiter, Staff Ecologist for the Audubon Cooperative Sanctuary Programs.

"To reach certification, a course must demonstrate that they are maintaining a high degree of environmental quality in a number of areas," explained Sluiter. These categories include: Environmental Planning, Wildlife & Habitat Management, Outreach and Education, Chemical Use Reduction and Safety, Water Conservation, and Water Quality Management.

The Golf Course, resort and surrounding Vancouver Island Real Estate Development will all benefit from the green approach the development has taken to creating a sustainable community.

TRAIL MARKERS ADDED TO VANCOUVER ISLAND GOLF TRAIL.

Golf Vancouver Island has added trail marker signs to the twelve golf courses of the Vancouver Island Golf Trail. The black granite signs feature a map profile of Vancouver Island, with the 250 km Vancouver Island Golf Trail on the East coast and 12 colored flags marking each of the participating golf courses, and the host location denoted in a gold highlighted flag and masthead. Golf Vancouver Island’s investment in the golf course signage program is phase one of a three tiered strategy to continue building the Vancouver Island Golf Trail brand, the second will see signage at partner accommodation and transportation facilities, and the third the hopeful erection of highway signage.
