    Getting out on the water

As a city nestled in nature, Campbell River has been shaped by all that surrounds it, and ocean adventures are some of the most time-honoured traditions. Whether for fishing, a wildlife excursion, or simply to enjoy the sunset, getting out on the water with one of the region’s amazing local guides is a must-do in Campbell River.

For well over a century, fishing has topped the list of adventures here. According to legend, the waterway between Campbell River and Quadra Island was once so bountiful that it could be crossed by walking on the backs of the salmon.

Up for casting a line? Chartered fishing trips with experienced guides are the one of the best ways to get on the water! Check out Discovery Fishing Pier, Canada’s first saltwater fishing pier, extending 150 feet from shore and 600 feet long, it allows for beautiful unobstructed views. The pier concession offers rod rentals during the summer months. If you’re not into fishing, enjoy the views instead, and don’t miss the ice cream at the concession — it’s famous!

This (Bear Mountain Resort – Mountain Course, on the Vancouver Island Golf Trail) is my new favourite golf course – I just love the layout. It’s really one of the prettiest golf courses I’ve played in my life, I’ll come back here on vacation, it’s that good.

I always treat golf courses as how many poor holes there are. This (Bear Mountain Resort – Mountain Course, on the Vancouver Island Golf Trail) is a very good one. There’s not one poor hole on this golf course.
